OWNERSHIP
Spectratec Inc. was established through a strategic partnership with Quantum Colours SA, founded in 2004 by John Lonsdale O’Donovan—a visionary leader with deep expertise in chemistry and colour science. His career began in Quality Control and Assurance within one of South Africa’s largest cosmetic contract manufacturers, later advancing to lead the technical division of the South African arm of the world’s largest colour manufacturer and marketer. His international training in Paris further refined his technical capabilities and global perspective.
Under Lonsdale’s leadership and with a highly experienced team, Quantum Colours brings over 50 years of combined industry experience to Spectratec’s product offering. This foundation ensures Spectratec’s clients receive colour solutions backed by technical depth, regulatory know-how, and a commitment to excellence.

Colour is critical to any consumer’s initial attraction to a product. The world of colour is very tightly regulated and one has to work with a supplier that knows which colours are legally permitted, in which applications, and at what dosage. Spectratec Inc. is proud to serve as the exclusive North American distributor of Geotech International’s premium effect pigments—delivering innovative solutions to manufacturers in the cosmetics, coatings, and plastics industries.
Headquartered in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Geotech is a globally respected producer of pearlescent pigments, aluminium pigments, and glitters, all fully REACH compliant and developed to meet the highest international safety and quality standards.
Through our collaboration with Quantum Colours SA, which was appointed Geotech’s exclusive distributor in South Africa in 2019, we’ve expanded our product offering to include a specialised range of cosmetic-grade pigments, such as FDA-approved calcium, aluminium, and barium lakes—ideal for high-end beauty and personal care formulations.
